Mountainview Nature Park, 83-acres in size, is located at 2 Strawberry Hill Lane, Central Nyack 10960 in Rockland County.
"The park is a mountainous tract, heavily wooded with numerous nature trails. It is presently managed as a hiking experience. There are scenic views, one to the west and one to the east of the Tappan Zee Bridge framed by the New York State Thruway cut at Nyack. A wet area near the top, named Bear Swamp, supports a variety of bird and animal life."
A Bit of History
"Acquired in 1979, this property is the result of a gift from the Winston C. Perry family, who donated the County's 50% share of the acquisition cost. It fulfills a need for passive recreation in the area. Trails exist in the park. The area is rich in Indian lore, scenic beauty and panoramic views. Several years ago a wandering bear visited the park before traveling back north. Mountain Brook Estates Corporation donated fourteen acres in 1997. The property is located on the east side of Mountainview Avenue. The Long Path Hiking Trail is located on this section of property."
